Wood sanding wheels, or more correctly, self-adhesive discs or Velcro discs, are a widely used tool in woodworking, carpentry, furniture making, and parquet sanding.

The tool is made of abrasive paper or cloth backed with a special cloth, called "Velcro," which attaches the disc to the support wheel. The advantage of this tool is the ease and speed of replacing a worn disc. The standard diameters of grinding wheels are 115, 125, 150, 180, and 200 mm. Wheels are available both without holes and with various types of holes for removing dust and abrasive slurry. The density of the abrasive grain can also vary. Wheels with a more open grain are typically used for wood.

These grinding wheels allow for both rough sanding, using P24-P60 grit wheels, and fine sanding with P360-P600 grit wheels. For wood, P60-P240 grit wheels are most commonly used.

Self-locking Velcro sanding discs are mounted on eccentric sanders. They can also be mounted on angle grinders, but this is not recommended for woodworking, as it prevents full control of the tool. The quality and rigidity of the backing pad is crucial when working with a sanding disc. When sanding, monitor the load and prevent the backing pad from overheating.
