The grinding wheels used for the sharpener are standard small-sized grinding wheels of the following shapes: straight profile (type 1), cup-conical (type 11) and disc (types 12 and 14).

Sharpeners are used for sharpening various tools both in factories and in small workshops, garages, etc. They are indispensable for manually sharpening cutters, drills, knives, scissors, saws, etc.

The most commonly used wheels are made of normal corundum, white fused alumina, silicon carbide, and diamond. The last two types are primarily used for sharpening carbide tools.

The wheels are available in medium and fine grit sizes. The bond is ceramic. Hardness is selected based on the material being worked on. Typically, medium-hard, medium, and medium-soft wheels are used. Since grinding is done manually, which limits the amount of force applied during cutting, it is not recommended to use wheels with high hardness or wheels with a bakelite bond.

To obtain optimal results, you should remember to periodically dress the grinding wheel, as during use the wheel can not only become clogged, but also lose its shape.
